Thanks Andrew,

I won't try Léonie's suggestion as my employer uses the exchange server whereas I don't.

Thanks to both yourself and Léonie for taking the time to reply.

Regards.

Matty.

Hi,

To clarify, it only really works if both the sender and recipient are using Exchange server, as this is the piece that does the message recalling on the recipient's side. It works best for internal users in the same company, but can work across the Internet if both parties have the Exchange server. Be careful with some Internet SMTP gateways that filter out the recall part of the message, and thus the message won't be recalled.

Thanks.
Andrew.

It'll be different in different email programmes Matty . In Outlook you need to find the email in your Sent items folder and open it (rather than read it from the reading pane). Go to the Actions menu and select Recall this message.

It's not a very foolproof process though. Once the email has been opened by the recipient, it's too late to recall it. When it's sent to a list, it's almost impossible to recall it successfully. If you're quick off the mark though, it will work for emails sent to individuals though.

Léonie.
