Re: [BCAB] Apple and Kindle Keyboard questions Jackie Cairns 09 Nov 2012 12:11 GMT

Then I have the Kindle Keyboard sussed, but was only wondering if there were
any commands that might be useful I had missed. It is such a pity Amazon
have been so half-hearted about Kindle accessibility.

Many thanks.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

the only way to get the battery status is to wait until it is low enough for
the low battery warning to show itself. there is a visual indicator at the
top right of the reading screen, but this is not rendered by the TTS. As the
TTS's functionality is relatively limited, there aren't that many commands
you need to know. Start and stop reading with the spacebar. Turn TTS on and
off via the page preferences button (right of spacebar). while speech is
running, use this same button to select either male or female voice and
speed from three options. think that's it.

Think continuous reading on the iPhone is 3 fingered downward swipe.

Firstly, in relation to reading within the iBooks app on an Apple device,
could someone please tell me the gesture for continuous read? Is there a
way of listening to a book without having to turn the page?

Secondly, regarding the Kindle Keyboard, how do you ascertain the battery
status please? And is there a list of commands using text-to-speech?

Many thanks.
