Re: [BCAB] word 2010 protected view Derek Naysmith 09 Nov 2012 15:17 GMT

When the document is open you don't have to use the Jaws cursor. Press F6 to
switch panes and you will often hear
Jaws announce "The file is protected..." In the pane press the Tab key and
press the button to enable editing.
Alternatively if you select the Info tab from the backstage view you can
enable editing there as well.

Hi Léonie

Firstly, thanks for the two quick responses, much appreciated.

Regarding the word issue, will what you suggest only work for that opened
attachment, or will it make a permanent change. Hopefully the latter, but
I'm guessing not.

If you switch to the Jaws cursor and move focus to the area at the top of
the window, you'll find it mentions when a document is protected. Focus on
the word "Enable" and simulate a left mouse click to select it. That should
do the trick.

Léonie.

Hi all

Can anyone help regarding the protected view issue.

When I open an attachment, i.e. one I have received by email, jaws announces
that it is in protected view. Kersering down the document doesn't seem to
do anything, i.e. jaws doesn't read anything out.

Where do I go to change this back to normal.

Thanks for any help.

Terry

The said tweet is below
"Optiguide claims to be first screen reader to offer access to Safe Mode,
$229. Runs for 1 hour as a demo: http://is.gd/TEvZA8"
Downloaded but not installed it yet.
