Re: [BCAB] BrailleNote and Braille Sense families comparison 16 Nov 2012 11:15 GMT

About a year ago ACB Radio main menu did a series on comparing the note takers which you may find useful. Unfortunately they fell in to the trap of showing you how you do things rather than focusing on what and wasn't supported.

I have the voice sense which runs the same software as the Braille sense.
Generally the word processer seems pretty good, the email application is a little on the basic side, the web browser is barely usable and is flaky and crashes nearly every time I've tried to use it. The media player is pretty good, There is a dictionary available for it at extra cost but it looks like only an American dictionary is available for English languages. It works with a number of social networks, the twitter application is ok but not as good as twitterific on the iphone.

I like its portability and connectivity and the hardware seems pretty solidly made. Generally I use the word processer, media player and timers. I've not done much else with it.

Subject: [BCAB] BrailleNote and Braille Sense families comparison

I'm in the market for a new notetaker. My Braille Lite Millennium 40 has
served me for many years, but it is becoming more and more unreliable.

I want to find a very comprehensive comparison between the BrailleNote and
Braille Sense families. I've looked at the OnHand and really like it for
it's size, but certainly prefer the braille keyboard on the Braille Sense
U2 model.

However, I really want a comparison of all the facilities available on the
two ranges.

For instance, how does battery life compare with the different models. Is
the Oxford Dictionary package available on the Braille Sense. Does the MS
Word emulation cover Office 2003, 2007 and 2010 on the BrailleNote and
Braille Sense. Is Sendero similar on all products.

As I say, I'm looking for a lot of detail in the comparisons.

Many thanks for any help with this.
