Ibrahim, by the same token, Apple has no commercial imperative to include VO across their product range.  However, they chose to do so and therefore make their products more inclusive and, as a result, boosted sales albeit in a small way.

Hi Nick yes I agree  with all you say.
I thought when I first read about the kindle fire it was more accessible,
but taking a closer look they have gone just so far.
Why they cannot go all the way like Apple only the god's know.

I'm afraid I agree.
I'm sure many of you remember that about 18 months ago when I first got my
Kindle keyboard I was an advocate and genuinely thought that Kindle was a
potential game changer. But certainly in the last 6 months I've changed my
mind. Amazon just don't seem bothered by accessibility and feel that the
minimal effort they've put in is good enough. Well quite frankly it's not.
I'm normally one of those who is on the side of trying to work with solution
developers and praising those for what they do rather than getting all
militant about accessibility but Amazon don't seem to want to think about
accessibility and those of us who have offered help and constructive advice
appear to be ignored.

If I'd not invested so much in their books I'd be boycotting Kindle as there
are so many better solutions out there now. I just hope that all the
pressure organisations and individuals are putting on Amazon at the moment
changes there attitude, particularly around the mobile apps.

Just my thoughts.

Right, that clarifies things, thanks.  I thought I had read that the Fire
wasn't accessible, but hadn't realised there were different versions of it.
Amazon seem to think they have done enough with accessibility as it is, so
nobody hold their breath!
