Tom,

For PC use I don't think you can beat a Logitech USB headset.  They do
several models but they are all superb.  In fact I think all types of PC
peripheral from Logitech take some beating.

For listening to music I don't think you can beat Technic for
headphones.  But I've never used much else other than Philips.
