Excellent David. I did not want to pay the £20 for voice over to be turned on so left but maybe will go again tomorrow and get my nephew to turn on the voice over. How do I instruct him in how to do this? I mean, what does he need to do? Presumably go in to settings and find it and turn it on but will settings be on the fly? I think there is a book on using it from RNIB but again not sure if this is really necessary. Is there a dedicated e-mail list please? ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Reynolds" <dkreynolds@ntlworld.com> To: "'BCAB Discussion List'" <bcab@lists.bcab.org.uk> Sent: Monday, December 10, 2012 4:32 PM Subject: Re: [BCAB] Apple iPad I just set my daughter's ipad up for nothing, just a cup of tea. I' sure that once you have voice over switched on, you could manage it. Be aware that during the set up, it will search for a wireless network, and ask you for a password to connect to it. Failing that, you'll need to connect it to your computer, and set it up that way. If you can, I'd do the whole set up on the ipad itself. Best, David. -----Original Message----- From: Bcab [mailto:bcab-bounces@lists.bcab.org.uk] On Behalf Of Neela Sent: 10 December 2012 16:21 To: BCAB Discussion List Subject: [BCAB] Apple iPad I know Jackie in an earlier mail informed us of her positive experience of purchasing an iPad in the Apple Store in Belfast. I have looked at an iPad today, apparently 4th generation (think Jackie's is 3rd generation) so before purchasing I just want to check with all you Apple experts that this new 4th generation iPad will have all the accessability features. Hefty price of six hundred and fifty five pounds includes VAT, and five hundred and forty-five pounds excluding the VAT. The particular store is prepared to give me the VAT off but says tht there would be a £20 for setting it up. I thought apart from turning voice over on, it more or less works out of the box. -- To find out more about BCAB and the benefits that membership can bring, please visit our website: http://www.bcab.org.uk/ To manage your subscription to the BCAB mailing list, please visit our website: http://www.bcab.org.uk/bcab-discussion-list/ To discuss matters relating to the mailing list, please email moderator@bcab.org.uk.
