Re: [BCAB] Apple iPad Neela 11 Dec 2012 16:29 GMT
Hi Jackie that is John Lewis for you *smile*. I paid my £20!!! this afternoon and the girl told me it would take her an hour!!!! When she came back with it, I said I cannot hear it speaking so she said Cerie (excuse spelling) is turned on and checked again and said 'Look you can see it is turned on'. Note I did have my guide dog with me and she even knows Neela's name!!! Then I said, sorry, I cannot hear anything so she turned up some sort of sound, I can only describe like a Windows boot-up sound and said, surely you can hear that!!!! I said I could indeed, I was more interested in hearing the Voice Over!!!! I then had to wait about 10 minutes while her colleague dealt with another customer and she asked him to come along to have a look. He sorted it. I think it was on OK but the volume was obviously turned down, strange really as I'd turned the voice over on last night when someone told me to tap the home key 3 times so what she did with it I do not know. Anyway, then I learned she had done this for the first time!!!! They offered to put in my Email account etc, but I wanted to do everything else myself. Is it the iPad Mini you have? All these generations are rather confusing. Kind Regards, Jackie Cairns -----Original Message----- From: Bcab [mailto:bcab-bounces@lists.bcab.org.uk] On Behalf Of Neela Sent: 10 December 2012 16:21 To: BCAB Discussion List Subject: [BCAB] Apple iPad I know Jackie in an earlier mail informed us of her positive experience of purchasing an iPad in the Apple Store in Belfast. I have looked at an iPad today, apparently 4th generation (think Jackie's is 3rd generation) so before purchasing I just want to check with all you Apple experts that this new 4th generation iPad will have all the accessability features. Hefty price of six hundred and fifty five pounds includes VAT, and five hundred and forty-five pounds excluding the VAT. The particular store is prepared to give me the VAT off but says tht there would be a £20 for setting it up. I thought apart from turning voice over on, it more or less works out of the box. -- To find out more about BCAB and the benefits that membership can bring, please visit our website: http://www.bcab.org.uk/ To manage your subscription to the BCAB mailing list, please visit our website: http://www.bcab.org.uk/bcab-discussion-list/ To discuss matters relating to the mailing list, please email moderator@bcab.org.uk.
