[BCAB] DVD players that have AD built in was RE: Audio-description on DVD movies Jim 16 Dec 2012 11:43 GMT
Hi Sandra, Its ok having AD on a DVD disk but in the ideal world (which we have never, and probably will ever live in) we would need a DVD player that reads out the menus on the disks. If they can put in a speech chip into a Sat Nav to read maps for drivers then it can't be too much of a leap to incorporate that kind of technology into DVD or Blue Ray players. You need a sighted person to do this for you. Most of the time a DVD can only be played with sighted help. I never buy DVDs anymore because videos were the best. You used to simply put them into the machine, pressed play and they would play. At least companies never did this to CDs. Very best wishes, Sandra.
