Hi Richard.

Sites like Hungry House and Just-eat do have take aways as well as
restaurants associated with them and in fact they also arrange the delivery
too. Restaurants do pay for the service but the idea is that they get more
orders as a result. Sadly, there is still no mobile just-eat app but the
Hungry House one works quite well.

I really don't mind paying for apps in general but I do have a problem
paying for this kind of app which costs me then really is just a glorified
catalog. I think that this is exactly the kind of apple app which should
always be free to those using it with restaurants and take aways paying to
use the site as they gain from orders as a result of the app. Does the
company sort out deliveries as well like Just Eat and Hungry House or is
that left to the restaurant?

Regards

Graham

Yes, but it seems to concentrate on takeaways - if I've understood it
correctly.

Try hungry house. It's free and frankly I refuse to pay for a restaurant
app on the IPhone anyway just in the same way as I wouldn't pay for a mail
order catalog.

News reached me via a tweet from Easychirp this morning of a new app for IOS
devices. Once installed it uses GPS to establish your current location and
then offers you a number of restaurants available in the vicinity You can
then access the menus of each of the offered venues, reading them item by
item using VO. Double tapping each menu item brings up the description of
the dish. If the restaurant you're planning to visit does not appear on the
offered list, you have the option of requesting it to be added. This is
done via an email form. The developers claim that requested restaurants can
be added within 48 hours provided that a menu is available via the internet.
I've already requested the addition of a restaurant the team and I are
visiting on thursday. The app is called Guide (which is slightly confusing)
but can be searched for in the app store using the string Guide talking
menus. It costs a fiver and I wish I'd known about it last week when I was
up in Salford. It seems to be very easy to use and is accessibly laid out
and presented.
