To be honest, I've never liked Itunes on the desktop much at all. The FSCast Barry linked to is pretty helpful. Control + S, which is an Itunes keyboard shortcut, shows the sidebar. Or more familiarly, the list of sources, music, video and so on. SO you can navigate up and down the list much as before. Sorry, I can't think off hand how to resolve the library problem. I manually delete podcast folders from the Itunes library in Windows Explorer, and only download new ones on the device. My library is just linked to the files, rather than have Itunes organise and make copies of everything. As such, I'd probably just delete the library and spend an afternoon rebuilding it.
