Hi Phil Santa gave me the Google Nexus 7 for Christmas, and I am literally still feeling my way with it. Let's just put it this way, VoiceOver is easier to get going than TalkBack. This is because you can check the box in iTunes if you hook it up to your PC or Mac. The speech on the Google Nexus is really very good, and I like the idea of it showing as an external drive on the computer for copying music. With Apple, you normally need to use iTunes. The Nexus is a nice piece of kit, but it's very early days for me yet, I'm still trying to put my WiFi key in! When I charged up my device and turned it on, I waited for a few seconds, then put two fingers on the screen. This turned on the speech. Goodness only knows what I did after that though, but the speech went into German, and I couldn't change it. There was a funny side to it as we enlisted Martin's nephew to help us put it back to English. None of us knew enough German, but we managed it in the end. Oh the joys of being blind! The book on how to use the iPhone is also applicable to the iPod Touch, and is a really good resource if you are using Apple products. If you go down the Android route, I can pass on some helpful links and info. If I purchase from the internet or a high street retail outlet, can I access and configure the device out of the box? and if so, how? I plan to purchase the well-recommended iPhone book too, but as the name suggests, this is specific for iPhone products so not sure how useful it will be. Thanks for any help.
