Andrew & Ibrahim have provided you two very effective methods. Apologies for my ignorance here, but maybe it might be useful to know what exactly is the format your wife's NetBook is compressing to, such as .zip, .bzip, .rar etc. I'm not sure what tool is on that XP machine, & what is your reason for compression ! Perhaps if I could've more info, I'll be happy to think of an elegant solution to this.
